Natural Fruit Spread

This tried-and-true recipe is packed with fiber & comes highly recommended for people with constipation.

Serves: 1-2 Tbsp per day
Prep time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 pound prunes
  • 4 ounces senna tea leaves
  • 1 pound raisins
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 pound figs
  • 1 cup lemon juice

Pro tip:
If eating the recommended amount doesn’t result in a bowel movement, increase the daily serving. If the fruit paste induces very loose stools, reduce serving or eat it every other day.

Directions

  1. Prepare tea using 2 ½ cups water, steep five minutes
  2. Strain tea to remove tea leaves, combine 2 cups liquid and fruit in a large pot.
  3. Boil fruit and tea for 5 minutes
  4. Remove from heat and add sugar and lemon juice. Allow to cool.
  5. Use hand mixer or food processor to stir fruit mixture into smooth paste.
  6. Place in plastic container and place in freezer — paste will not harden.
