Halloween doesn’t have to be all about candy and sweets. Kids welcome healthier treats too, as long as they’re presented with flair.
Take bananas, for example. They’re rich in fiber and potassium but more importantly, kids love them. With low-fat yogurt and more fruit, you can turn plain bananas into spooky “ghost pops” in just minutes.
Ingredients:
- 3 medium bananas
- 6 lollipop sticks
- 1 ½ cups low-fat vanilla yogurt
- 12 currants, dried blueberries or other small, dark fruit
- 3 purple grapes
Step 1
Peel the bananas and cut them crosswise into halves. Insert a lollipop stick into the cut end of each half, making six banana “pops.”
Step 2
Pour the yogurt onto a plate or shallow bowl. Dip each banana half into the yogurt, turning it until the entire surface of the banana is well-coated.
Step 3
Transfer the bananas to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Position two currants on each banana as eyes.
Step 4
Cut each grape in half lengthwise. Position a half-grape, skin side out, on each banana to serve as a gaping, spooky mouth.
Step 5
Freeze the bananas for at least one hour before serving.
