DIY: Graduation photo memory wall

Give your grad a special reminder of how far they’ve come with a graduation memory frame.

Simple wood frame with 4x6 prints clipped to chicken wire in the opening. Decorated with yellow garland.

Graduations are a time to look back fondly on a student’s growth, friendships and achievements. With a memory frame, you can give your grad a visual reminder of how far they’ve come. This simple project provides a charming decorative accent that you can display at the graduation party and that your grad can use to dress up their dorm wall come fall. Just follow these steps:

Bending chicken wire into place on the back of the frame

1. Create the frame

Select a simple wood frame, preferably one with a distressed finish. Cut chicken wire to fit the opening. Bend the wire into place on the back of the frame and attach it with a staple gun.

Placing the garland in a zigzag formation on the chicken wire.

2. Add a garland

Use a circular hole punch to create dots in your graduate’s school colors. Glue the dots to fishing line and allow your garlands to dry. Place the garland in a zigzag formation on the chicken wire. Attach with fishing line.

Attaching string to frame

3. Attach string

With scissors, cut three lengths of rustic string slightly wider than the frame. Staple or tie the strings to the frame horizontally.

Attaching photos to string using mini wood clothespins.

4. Decorate

Use mini wood clothespins to attach photos from throughout the years. You can also add decorative accents like silk flowers and small mementos like a ticket to the commencement ceremony or a graduation announcement.
